For years, patients have suffered the burden of dealing with the complexities of navigating healthcare ecosystems. This has translated in poor management of their condition, leading to undesired complications. To solve for this, at VITia, we have built a solution that encourages interaction among patients, their doctors and other healthcare providers, while helping them create healthy habits and simplifying disease management.
Working closely with patients at Novartis, Merck, Lilly, and later as an entrepreneur at Sanantia, helped me understand the challenges they face, helping them live happier, healthier lives became my mission. I have a B.S. in Chemical Engineering and an MBA of the Stephen M. Ross School of Business, at the University of Michigan.
I met Fernando in one of the startup communities and then we realized that we worked in the same pharma companies! I think that his idea of using the loyalty programs experience to help patients better adhere to physician’s recommendations is brilliant. We’ve tried to solve this problem for a long time, and I am happy to help. I have an MD degree and did a residency in clinical psychiatry before I joined the industry to scale up the impact of new drugs and medical devices.
Fer and I met while we worked at Novartis. During a trip to Boston to attend a HeathTech conference, we met for dinner to catch up, and he told me what he was working on at VITia. I immediately thought about the impact that it could have to help patients with long term care of their health, particularly with hispanics. Not long after, he called me and asked if I’d like to join him, I didn’t think twice!
When I met Fernando, he talked about using loyalty to help patients stick to their treatments... Oh, my, that makes sense! I've worked 12 years in loyalty and co-founded in wellness and digital business development. I have BS in Applied Math and Computer Engineering, and masters’ in Marketing and MIS.
A couple of years ago, Fernando, over some tequila, wanted to learn about the financials of loyalty programs… “How do I manage the balance sheet?”, he asked. I have 35-year financial experience leading multinational corporations and as independent member of some Audit and Finance Committees.
Fernando and I worked together at Sanantia, where I managed our health coaches, and we wanted to scale and automate that, so VITia came up. I am also the founder of Cognos Ipsi and earned a BS degree in psychology and a master’s degree in Education, specializing on online methodologies.
